The 32nd Day of the Omer

Today is the 32nd day of the Omer.  Chad and I went for a walk today at the Botanical Gardens in Springfield.  It was absolutely lovely, to see some of the flowers that were just beginning to come up.  There was a lake with ducks and geese too!  Next time, we'll have to take some bread so we can feed them. The park offers lots of additional trails too.  There are two four mile trails you can take, which then ends up being eight miles because you have to turn around and come back.  Since it was such a nice day, Chad and I walked for about three miles.  Since I didn't wear shorts, I was getting a little hot and wanted to turn around.  The trails are in good condition.  They are paved and flat; not a lot of hills or inclines like the conservatory.  It's really a nice place to go for a leisurely walk.  Remember, don't forget to count the omer while you're feeding the neighborhood ducks and geese!

Psalm 78: 32-39 (KJV)

For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

The 31st Day of the Omer

Today is the 31st day of the Omer.  The weather was great today!  Warm and sunny; not too hot at all.  I'm trying to enjoy it now because I'm afraid that it will eventually get hot and humid here in Missouri.  Before that happens, I am trying to spend time outside.

For my latest craft project, I am knitting some socks on size 5 DPN's.  I'm using 100% cotton and have a small skein for each sock.  I used to knit English style, but have recently switched over to continental style.  I am used to the knit stitch but I needed to learn the continental purl, which I did yesterday.  It was a good thing that I did because I am purling a lot in the making of these socks.  I don't know how long it will take me.  I usually knit when I feel like it so it might be a couple of months before the socks are done.  When they are, I'll post the pictures of them.  Hope you're enjoying the weather while you're counting the omer!

Psalm 78: 17-31 (KJV)

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.
He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,
The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

The 30th Day of the Omer

Today is the 30th day of the Omer.  Chad and I went for a late morning walk.  Since we've been eating healtheir, I feel like I have more energy.  After the walk, I felt up all day.  For breakfast, we had strawberries with cream and honey and for dinner, we had some more chicken, green beans, and spiced wine.  We had fresh kiwis for dessert.  Tomorrow, we plan to go for our walk a little earlier, especially since the next three days are going to be warmer.  If you're going to take a walk tonight, you might want to count the omer before you get out of breath!

Psalm 78: 1-16 (KJV)

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

The 29th Day of the Omer

Today is the 29th day of the Omer.  Shabbat Shalom!  Today Chad and I had a wonderful Shabbat day.    It's been pretty rainy for much of the day, so it was so nice just to rest today and watch the rain come down.  I also made some Sinless Pastry Coffee which smells and tastes like coconut flavored coffee.  It fills our kitchen with warm comforting smells.  What is it about rainy days and coffee?  Don't they go well together?  I can't wait until we get to the Messiah's Kingdom and I can have a cup of coffee with Him on a rainy day at the neighborhood coffe shop!  Sometimes, when life gets hard or I'm feeling down, I sit and daydream about that.  What a wonderful thing to look forward to.  As you begin your week this evening, don't forget to start it off by counting the omer!

Psalm 67: 1-7 (KJV)

God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

The 28th Day of the Omer

Today is the 28th day of the Omer.  It is also the weekly Shabbat.  Chad and I had a dinner of chicken, mashed potatoes, and spiced wine. It has been raining all day, which is making it a very cozy Shabbat.  If it's raining where you are, try jumping in some puddles while you count the omer!

Psalm 63: 1-8 (KJV)

 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

The 27th Day of the Omer

Today is the 27th day of the Omer.  I learned a very valuable lesson yesterday afternoon.  The Lord is always taking care of us, even when we think that He's not.  He took care of what seemed to me, a very big issue.  Just when I thought I made a big mess of things, He came through and handled it better than I could have ever dreamed!  What a wonderful Father we have!  When you count the omer today, think about all the ways the Father has taken care of you!

Psalm 25: 4-10 (KJV)

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.
Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

The 26th Day of the Omer

Today is the 26th day of the Omer.  Chad and I had a wonderful radicchio salad with warmed fennel bulbs, apples, and walnuts.  We also added cranberries. For the dressing, we used frsh squeezed orange juice.  Very healthy and light.  I got this recipe online.  For dessert, we had strawberries in honey and cream.  We also tried a little bit of blueberry goat cheese that we bought from Sam's Club today.  Chad thinks it tastes similar to blueberry cheesecake.  I wouldn't go that far.  But it's not that bad!  Are you counting the omer while eating goat cheese?

Psalm 19: 7-14 (KJV)

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

The 25th Day of the Omer

Today is the 25th day of the Omer. We did it.  We're at the halfway mark for counting the omer.  Only 25 more days to go until we get to Shavuot!  Yeah!  Today was very rainy and cool.  We went for a walk and it was a good thing that we were wearing sweaters.  Brrr!  We came back and I turned the heat back on.  Try to stay warm while you're counting the omer!

Psalm 15: 1-5 (KJV)

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

The 24th Day of the Omer

Today is the 24th day of the Omer.  Chad and I had a really healthy dinner tonight- cauliflower and apricot salad with carrots and cashews.  I made a special sauce to put on it and put it in the refrigerator to chill.  I found this recipe online and was surprised how much I liked the salad.  Chad like it too which put a big smile on my face- he even had seconds (so did I).  If you want, try counting the omer tonight while you enjoy your dinner!

Psalm 11: 1-7 (KJV)

In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

The 23rd Day of the Omer

Today is the 23rd day of the Omer.  Chad and I had a wonderful chicken, mango, avocado, and bean salad.  Instead of lettuce, I used savoy cabbage, which is gentle enough to use instead of lettuce in a salad.  For dessert, we had a nice cup of caramel coffee.  I plan on making strawberries with honey and cream a little later this evening.  We are now sitting and listening to the Hebrew Roots Network online.  They have a variety of well known Messianic teachers- tonight we will listen to Rico Cortes and Brad Scott.  I hope you have a wonderful 23rd day of the omer!

Psalm 1: 1-6 (KJV)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

The 22nd Day of the Omer

Today is th2 22nd day of the Omer. Chad and I went for a little drive after Shabbat.  We had a donut each and a soda.  Later we came back, and I made each of us another breve.  Counting the omer while drinking coffee is fun!

Psalm 119: 169-176 (KJV)

Tav.
Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.
Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.
My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.
Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight.
Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

The 21st Day of the Omer

Today is the 21st day of the Omer.  Shabbat Shalom!  Stay warm, cozy, and safe in the Messiah's arms today.  Chad and I are enjoying a nice brown sugar breve together!  As you enjoy whatever you are drinking, don't forget to count the omer today too!

Psalm 119: 161-168 (KJV)

Shin.
Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.
My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.

The 20th Day of the Omer

Today is the 20th day of the Omer.  The weather has turned a lot cooler today.  It rained hard early this morning and when I went shopping today I didn't realize how cool it was and ended up wearing a t-shirt because I didn't expect it to be that cold.  I wished I had worn my sweater.  Chad and I were going to for a walk at the conservatory but decided not to after it began to lightly sprinkle again.  I made sure all our windows were shut because it might drop down into the 30's tonight.  Stay safe and warm while you count the omer for today!

Psalm 119: 153-160 (KJV)

Resh.
Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.
Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word.
Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.
Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy judgments.
Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies.
I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.
Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness.
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

The 19th Day of the Omer

Today is the 19th day of the Omer.  So far, there has not been any rain today.  Instead, it was warm with just the perfect amount of humidity and slight breeze.  The weather was absolutely delicious and we took a little drive today so that we could enjoy it.  I love taking rides with Chad.  He's my best friend and I really enjoy spending time with him, especially when it's so nice outside.  I hope your enjoying your weather as you continue to count the omer!

Psalm 119: 145-152 (KJV)

Qoph.
I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes.
I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.
I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.
Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.
Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.
They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.
Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth.
Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

The 18th Day of the Omer

Today is the 18th day of the Omer.  This morning started off cool and drizzly, but by late morning the rain disappeared.  Chad and I went out for lunch at a Chinese restaurant today.  Afterwards, we took a short driving tour of Aurora, Missouri, which is about 30-45 minutes away from Springfield.  On the way back to Springfield, we stopped off at a Christian coffee house and we each got a mocha.   Tomorrow it's supposed to be rainy with lots of thunder.  I love rainy days and can't wait.  What fun- counting the omer while jumping in some rain puddles!

Psalm 119: 137-144 (KJV)

Tsadhe.
Righteous art thou, O Lord, and upright are thy judgments.
Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.
The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.

The 17th Day of the Omer

Today is the 17th day of the Omer.  I went to the dentist today and got good news.  After x-rays, an exam, and many tests the doctor did for my teeth, he said that I had sensitive teeth and there was no sign of a cavity.  He said that sensitivity can happen due to diet, improper brushing, tooth grinding, or gum recession.  Although I had a little receding near my gums, he said that overall, it was not bad.  He gave me a special soft toothbrush and a sample of sensitive teeth toothpaste.  I am so thankful to the Messiah that He took care of my teeth!  Although I was nervous while I was on the dental chair and didn't think about counting the omer, I am now much more relaxed and ready to count the omer for today!  If your going to the dentist in the near future, to help you get your mind off your appointment, try counting the omer!

Psalm 119: 129-136 (KJV)

Pe.
Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name.
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.

The 16th Day of the Omer

Today is the 16th day of the Omer.  Chad and I went to the Springfield Zoo today.  For a smaller zoo, it was actually very nice.  It was spread out, which meant lots of walking for us.  But that was okay because we do need the exercise.  Lots of different types of animals.  When we first went in, we were greeted by a peacock, who was just roaming free in the zoo.  There are lots of peacocks there and I guess they let them fly over the fences when they want to.  The weather was nice- sunny with a nice breeze.  I think it took us about two hours to get through the zoo.  My favorite exhibit was the timber wolves.  Chad's favorite was near a pond, where lots of large geese and large carp were in the water competing for food that people were throwing down to them.  I wonder if peacocks count the omer too?

Psalm 119: 121-128 (KJV)

Ayin.
I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.
Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.
Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

The 15th Day of the Omer

Today is the 15th day of the Omer.  I hope you had a restful Shabbat!  Looks like we're going to have nice weather all week here.  I'm looking forward to getting out and walking.  Not looking forward to going to the dentist though.  I'll still be counting the omer even though I'm in the dentist's chair!

  Psalm 119: 113-120 (KJV)

Samekh.
I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.
Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.
Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit is falsehood.
Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.
My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

The 14th Day of the Omer

Today is the 14th day of the Omer.  It is also the weekly Shabbat.  This morning I made chicken cabbage stew in the crockpot.  We should have enough for about three days worth of food, which is nice, because I won't have to cook dinner for a little while.  It was a little cooler today, but it was at least sunny.  I hope you're having a peaceful Sabbath as you continue to count the omer!

Psalm 119: 105-112 (KJV)

Nun.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word.
Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me thy judgments.
My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law. The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

The 13th Day of the Omer

Today is the 13th day of the Omer.  Chad and I took a drive out to Cabool to see what the town looked like.  The name sounded interesting so we drove through just to say that we've been there.  Afterwards, we came back into Springfield and went to Sam's Club for the hot dog combo for lunch.  My tooth has been hurting a little on the back left side.  I think I may have a cavity.  I called a few dentists to compare prices and see when I could get in.  I did get an appointment to go in on Monday.  I'm a little nervous to see if it is actually a cavity or not.  I'm hoping there's nothing really going on with my tooth and maybe it's just a little sensitivity that will go away on its own.  Whatever the outcome, I know that the Messiah will take care of it.  Remember to count the Omer while you're brushing your teeth!

Psalm 119: 97-104 (KJV)

Mem.
O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

The 12th Day of the Omer

Today is the 12th day of the Omer.  Last night after we went to bed, it started to rain and thunder for a large part of the night.   It was cloudy for most of the day today and it started to rain earlier this evening.  We tried going to the zoo today but when we drove by, it looked like there was not going to be much activity going on with the animals due to the cool weather.  We're planning on going back when it gets a little warmer so that we can see more animal activity.  The temperature has dropped quite a bit- almost 20 degrees.  Stay warm or cool, depending where you are as you continue to count the omer!

Psalm 119: 89-96 (KJV)

Lamedh.
For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.
Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
I am thine, save me: for I have sought thy precepts.
The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

The 11th Day of the Omer

Today is the 11th day of the Omer.  Chad and I went back for a walk at the conservatory and I think I did much better today, even though it was still hot and humid.  I decided that I probably need to buy some white t-shirts and some very lightweight exercise pants for walking.  I wore a thicker t-shirt today and a pair of sweat pants, which made me feel hot.  Since we want to walk regularly and want to increase our walk, I probably need to buy exercise clothes that won't make me sweat even more than I already am.  I hope everyone is enjoying counting the omer.  Don't grow weary in counting, we're getting there!

 Psalm 119: 81-88 (KJV)

Kaph.
My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.
How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.
All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.
Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

The 10th Day of the Omer

Hello everyone.  Today is the 10th day of the Omer.  Only 40 more days to go, a little over a month.  Chad and I took a walk at the Springfield Conservatory today.  It was warm, around 74 degrees.  It was kind of cloudy but it did nothing to take away from the heat.  Today was the first day that I walked while it was hot and I had a very difficult time making the two miles.  Besides, I was really tired today and I felt like taking a nap all day, which I didn't do.  When we got back and had dinner, my left heel was really sore.  I think it was because I haven't really kept up a good walking schedule and it will take some time to get used to walking again, especially in the heat.  Since my hair is short, I put it up into two stubbly little pigtails, just like the pictures I draw.  Have a wonderful 10th day of the Omer.

Psalm 119:73-80 (KJV)

Yodh.
Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.
I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.
Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.
Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.
Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.

The 9th Day of the Omer

Today is the 9th day of the Omer.  The weather was really nice; a little cloudy but very warm.  Chad and I are thinking about visiting the Springfield Zoo sometime this week, before it gets too hot.  Missouri is not in a drought status now so I'm guessing that spring will be the best time to go, before it does get hotter, which I'm told is around August.  We are also thinking about visiting the Meramac caverns and taking the tour.  We definitely want to get out and see the sights this year.

I knitted three scarves for friends down in Texas and today they sent me an e-mail picture of themselves wearing the scarves.  They looked so adorable!  What a wonderful keepsake picture for me.  I think I've looked at it four of five times today!  Keep having fun counting the omer!

 Psalm 119:65-72 (KJV)

Teth.
Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word.
Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

The 8th Day of the Omer

Hello everyone!  Today is the 8th day of the Omer.  I hope you all had a wonderful, warm, and cozy Shabbat with the Messiah.  I took a very long nap today and I think I really needed it.  Isn't it funny that you don't even realize that you are tired sometimes until your eyes shut and you take a two hour nap!  At the end of the Sabbath today, I made a batch of funcakes, much to the delight of Chad.  I think I could I heard his stomach actually growl, "More funcakes please" and I'm sure that I almost saw a tear or two in his eye after he ate some.  Hope you are having lots of fun counting the omer.

Psalm 119: 57-64 (KJV)

Heth.
Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.
I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.
I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.
At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

The 7th Day of the Omer

Today is the 7th day of the Omer!  It is also the weekly Shabbat.  Chad and I had a nice dinner and are now resting.  We'll be tuning into an online Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m .  It's nice to be able to tune into the service and join our fellow brethren all over the U.S and abroad.  We have listened to this Torah service for years now and really enjoy it.  We have learned the basics of the Torah and are looking forward to learning more!

The weather has been marvelous today as well.  Chad and I took another short drive to enjoy it!  We talked about going out to the Laura Ingalls Wilder House next week too, if the weather is nice.  Hope you all have a wonderful and restful Shabbat with the Messiah!

Psalm 119: 49-56 (KJV)

Zayin.
Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.
I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.
Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law.
This I had, because I kept thy precepts.

The 6th Day of the Omer

Today is the 6th day of the Omer.  Chad and I had a pretty good day.  We took a drive into the country and sipped on Donut House Coffee while having a donut for breakfast.  We also had pizza for dinner, which was great, because I was just not in the mood for cooking.  Hoping you're having fun counting the Omer!

Psalm 119:41-48 (KJV)

Vav.
Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

The 5th Day of the Omer

Today is the fifth day of the Omer.  I hope everyone is having fun counting the omer and looking forward to Shavuot (Pentecost)!  Forty-five days seems like a long time away but before you know it, it will be here.  My hope is that everyone finds a fun and meaningful way to count the omer, even if it's doing something as simple as making a little drawing.  Here's today's drawing.  I hope it puts a smile on your face and makes you think about the day when the Messiah Himself will teach us from His Torah!

Psalm 119:33-40

Hey.
Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.
Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.
Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.
Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.
Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

The 4th Day of the Omer

Hello everyone!  Today is the 4th day of the omer.  It also ends the High Sabbath for the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  Chad and I had wonderful Passover season and are so grateful to the Lord for allowing us to participate.  As wonderful our time was, I am so looking forward when we are with the Lord in His Messianic Kingdom, keeping all the feasts together, with Him!  Can't you just picture it?  Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Psalm 119:25-32 (KJV)

Daleth.
My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.  I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
I have chosen the faithful way: thy judgments have I laid before me.
I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame. I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

The 3rd Day of the Omer

Today is the 3rd day of the Omer.  I just realized that there may be some of you that might not know what an omer is.  An omer is an ancient Hebrew measure; more specifically, it is one-tenth of an ephah, that was used in dry measure.  Some people estimate that it was about 2 quarts.  Oh my head is spinning!  I am definitely not a math person.  Chad, please grab the calculator!

I hope all this math is helping to exercise your brain!  Have a wonderful High Sabbath as it is also the last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  Here's a picture and Bible verse to help you with your count!

 Psalms 119: 17-24 (KJV)

Gimel.
Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

The 2nd Day of the Omer

Well today is the 2nd day of the Omer.  Chad and I are trying not to forget to count the omer although sometimes it is hard to always keep up with it.  I think the drawings will really help because we are trying to post every day's count with a drawing.  Remember, our goal is 50 days = 50 drawings.  I think my drawing hand is going to be tired after it's all said and done and Chad will want to take a vacation from digitizing anymore illustrations!  Here's today's drawing and Bible verse.

Psalm 119: 9-16 (KJV)

Beth.
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.
With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
